VISION <\/mark><\/strong>– To restore dignity and humanity within the community through victim empowerment, emotional support, and compassionate care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MISSION<\/strong> <\/mark><\/mark>–<\/mark> To foster compassionate neighbourliness within the community through supportive networking and collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VALUES<\/mark><\/strong> <\/mark>– MATT is committed to the principles of the Person-Centred Approach (PCA), as introduced by Dr Carl R Rogers. Members uphold the following values:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Respect<\/strong> \u2013 Accepting the client\u2019s values and recognising the differences between the volunteer\u2019s and the client\u2019s values. Respect requires allowing the client to decide what he or she wishes to do.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Individualisation <\/strong>\u2013 Approaching each client as a unique person, with full acceptance of their strengths and weaknesses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Self-Determination<\/strong> \u2013 Enabling clients to move in the direction of growth and to determine their own goals. The client decides what will be discussed, as well as how and when it will be discussed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Confidentiality<\/strong> \u2013 Ensuring that clients feel unthreatened and able to acknowledge and explore painful experiences. Trust forms the basis of confidentiality, which must be ethically respected at all times.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
